Theresa Stevens, HAS, BC-HIS
Hearing Aid Specialist, Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences
Theresa is a native to Florida, growing up in Sarasota. After graduation from high school, she completed her AS degree at Manatee Community College in Business. She opened a family daycare while her children were growing up and cared for young children in her home for 10 years. She received the highest level of certification for a home daycare and was National Certified as well. An opportunity to take her caring and concern from the young to the hearing impaired community through a family member has changed her life completely. She is genuinely devoted to her patients, will go above and beyond to help her patients hear better whether caring for them in person or over the phone. She takes her time with every patient, each and every visit. She is now Nationally Board Certified (this highest level of certification for a hearing specialist), a member of the International Hearing Society, Florida Society of Hearing Healthcare Professionals and licensed Hearing Aid Specialist since 2005. Due to her passion, she shares her knowledge and expertise training new specialist coming into the field. She looks forward to helping everyone hear better, enjoy their lives again with their family and friends and communicate better. Without your hearing, how can you enjoy life?
Kat was born and raised in the Midwest. Living in Nebraska for nine years, Texas for two years, and Minnesota for twenty-six years. Her older sister was born profoundly hearing impaired; therefore, she has been around hearing aids her whole life. Her sister is the reason she was drawn to the hearing aid industry. She joined the Army Reserve right out of high school as a crane operator and became the only non-mechanic licensed on every piece of equipment in the motor pool. She was deployed for one year to Kuwait as a Financial Management Technician, because it makes sense (to the Army) to go from joy sticks to pencils. Upon returning home, the unit had restructured, and she had to change her MOS (job) again to Interior Electrician. After serving for 14 years, she was medically discharged when she shattered her knee in a boating accident.
Kat graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead, with a bachelor’s degree in Speech Language Hearing Sciences with an emphasis in pre-audiology in 2013. After graduating she spent five years working various jobs and applying to get into audiology graduate programs, they are very competitive. In 2017, Kat was accepted into the doctoral program at A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ. Towards the end of her second year into the program, there was a family emergency, and she had to withdraw from classes. Kat decided that the doctoral route was not the best direction for her life and started pursuing a career as an Audiology Technician. She applied all over the country from Alaska to Maine to Oregon to Florida, even the at Pentagon. She found the perfect fit at Hearing Centers of Charlotte County in September of 2019. Outside of saving hearing lives, Kat loves hobbies such as kayaking, camping, fishing, swimming, and karaoke.
